Blade is a pioneer of the New York graffiti scene, hailing from the Bronx. He started writing graffiti in 1972 and became one of the most prolific and influential subway graffiti artists of the golden era, painting an estimated 5,000 subway cars and earning the nickname “King of the Line.”

Known for his clean lettering, early whole-car and top-to-bottom pieces, cartoon characters and detailed scenes, he helped shape the classic New York subway style that later spread around the world.
